PNWA provides members with tools and opportunities to turn their writing dreams into reality.

Our mission is to develop writing talent through education, accessibility to the publishing industry, and participation in an interactive, writer community. 

Featured Keynote:
Natalie Bazile is the author of Queen Sugar, which is being adapted for television by writer/director Ava DuVernay of “Selma” fame, and co-produced by Oprah Winfrey for OWN, Oprah’s television network. Natalie has a M.A. in Afro-American Studies from UCLA, and is a graduate of Warren Wilson College’s MFA Program for Writers where she was a Holden Minority Scholar. Queen Sugar was named one of the San Francisco Chronicles’ Best Books of 2014, was long-listed for the Crooks Corner Southern Book Prize, and nominated for an NAACP Image Award. She has had residencies at the Ragdale Foundation where she was awarded the Sylvia Clare Brown fellowship, Virginia Center for the Arts, and Hedgebrook. Her non-fiction work has appeared in Lenny Letter, O, The Oprah Magazine, The, The Best Women’s Travel Writing Volume 9. She is a member of the San Francisco Writers’ Grotto. Natalie lives in San Francisco.

Lisa Dawn's workshops:  Lisa will be conducting two workshops at the Conference on social media and book marketing.  Her introductory level  workshop will discuss setting up Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest Profiles, basic networking for authors and branding.   Her advanced workshop covers how to host Facebook events, build Pinterest boards to grow readership, using hashtags to expand search ability, Twitter blasts and much, much more.

Christopher Vogler, is the author of THE WRITER'S JOURNEY, one of the essential texts for screenwriters, novelists, and artists of all kinds who want to harness the power of myth. Inspired by the work of mythologist Joseph Campbell, THE WRITER'S JOURNEY explores how the ancient patterns and wisdom of world myths still have value for writers as a guideline to structure and a source of creative inspiration. In this engaging, insightful presentation, Vogler will be covering his core material, the twelve-stage Writer's Journey model of structure with fresh insights from his recent work in animation and feature films.
