Join us for this FREE event as we explore and introduce young author's to the world of writing.
Writing Workshops and activities for ages 8-12. (

IT’S FUN TO BE A WRITER
Presented by Keynote Speaker Deb Lund

Deb Lund is a picture book author best known for her celebrated dinoseries.Deb taught for twenty years as a music and classroom teacher and elementary librarian, later creating and co-directing a small arts-based school.She has directed choirs, conducted workshops on writing, music, and environmental education, taught theater classes for kids, and led storytelling troupes and student book clubs. Her music and education background, along with her creativity, playfulness, and passion for kids and literacy, makes her a well-loved presenter at schools, libraries, and conferences.She actively supports writers, teachers, and students through her website and blogs, as well as in her popular continuing education courses for teachers. Among the books Deb has written are Monsters on Machines, All Aboard the Dinotrain, Dinosailors, Tell Me My Story, Mama, Play and Pray Toddler Prayers, and her newest, Dinosoaring.

Bring Your Story to Life
Presented by Ingrid Ricks

Everyone has a story to tell—something funny, sad, emotional, or maybe even scary. The key is figuring out how to bring that story to life for your readers. In this workshop, YA memoir author Ingrid Ricks will share the secrets to telling a good story, and provide fun writing exercises that will teach you how to write a great opening and how to paint a picture with words.

Eric Ode is an author, songwriter, and widely published poet. As a former elementary teacher, he gets kids excited about the writing process. He will use poetry and music to discuss pre-writing, drafting, and revising.

Samantha Vamos is a Washington State Book award winning author for her picture book, Before You Were Here.
