Member rate: $200.00/ Nonmember rate: $300.00
Wednesday, June 7, 14, 28.  July 5, 12, 19

The goal of this spring course is to complete a first draft and develop habits common to the professional author.  You will learn:

  • How to finish your first draft.
  • The importance of a writing schedule.
  • The importance of attending writing conferences.
  • How to pitch to an agent or editor.
  • The importance of social media.
  • The advantages and disadvantages of self-publishing.
  • The key scenes critical in the last third of your novel.

As with Pam's After the First Draft series, this course will also help authors in the run-up to the PNWA conference practice their pitch, learn the best strategies to get the most out of a conference, as well as what to do when an agent and editor asks for their manuscript. We will also cover how to identify the external and internal conflict of your story, create believable settings, write scenes that introduce your characters and their world and set the story in motion.
