    www.penguin.com

    Katie K. Gilligan
    Thomas Dunne
    Books

    www.thomasdunnebooks.com

Katie K. Gilligan.  After four years at Thomas Dunne Books, I’ve acquired nearly every type of fiction—and while I seek primarily women’s lit, I am always on the hunt for genuine narrators, or quirky plots, or cry-into-a-glass-of-wine tearjerkers.  I’ve had the privilege of working with McSweeney’s alum, Diane Vadino (Smart Girls Like Me), Giller Prize Finalist, Alissa York (Effigy), and have recently acquired the next two ballad novels by New York Times bestselling author, Sharyn McCrumb.

My women’s fiction acquisitions range from the commercial to the literary, and all points in between—including crossovers into mystery and romance genres.  I’ve recently acquired non-fiction titles ranging from the memoir of an organic blueberry farmer, to a savory travel-cookbook set in Umbria.  In short, I’m eagerly seeking voices that have me at page one and can keep my attention while running on the treadmill or inspire me to test out a new recipe.

    Celia Johnson
    Grand Central Publishing

    www.hachettebookgroup.com

Celia Johnson is an editor at Grand Central Publishing. Her primary areas of interest include commercial fiction (thrillers, mysteries, and suspense novels), narrative nonfiction, and pop culture. Celia has worked with bestselling authors Donald Westlake, James Ellroy, M.C. Beaton, and Susan Jane Gilman, to name a few.

    Kate Kennedy
    Harmony & Shaye Areheart Books
    (Crown Publishing Group)
    www.randomhouse.com/crown

Kate Kennedy is an Associate Editor at Harmony & Shaye Areheart Books, imprints of the Crown Publishing Group. At Harmony, She publishes hardcover self-help, spirituality, memoir/biography, and narrative nonfiction.  Kate publishes Judith Orloff, and has worked with Cesar Millan, Tony Curtis, Deepak Chopra, and David Sanger. At Shaye Areheart Books, she publishes hardcover women’s fiction, home to Alice Hoffman, Chris Bohjalian, Lisa Unger, and Gillian Flynn. We are always on the look-out for books that blend strong writing with a commercial hook. Personally, Kate has a soft spot for the coming-of-age novel and I’d love to publish more books that crossover into YA. That said, all my Summer 09 novels are set in exotic locales (Lebanon, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago) and are rather literary, so my list is a bit more diverse.

Harmony and SAB are both smaller imprints within the Crown Publishing Group. Harmony publishes about 10-15 books per season and SAB publishes 4-8. Giving authors the best of both worlds: a boutique feel when it comes to editorial, marketing, and publicity with the muscle of the entire Random House Sales force.
